EV Charger Installation in Yarraville

Yarraville cottages have usually been renovated at least twice, and the wiring shows it. Original knob and tube style runs behind a 1990s rewire behind a 2015 extension. The short answer

The other Yarraville reality is parking. A lot of these cottages have no driveway at all. Where there is a rear right of way with a garage or hardstand, home charging works well. Where the car lives on the street outside the Sun Theatre, it does not, and that needs saying before anyone quotes.

The parking conversation comes first

We will ask where the car parks overnight before we ask anything about your switchboard. If it is on the street, there is no compliant home charging option. A lead across a footpath is a trip hazard and it is not permitted, and no cable ramp product changes that.

Yarraville does have more rear laneway and right of way access than Footscray, and that is what usually saves the job. A garage, carport or hardstand off a rear ROW gives us somewhere legal and practical to put the charger. So does a front hardstand where a legal crossover exists. We assess both at the site visit.

No side clearance changes the cable route

Yarraville cottage blocks are narrow, and the rear extension usually consumes what side access existed. There is often no path wide enough to work in on either boundary, and the original roof space stops where the extension begins.

That leaves the subfloor, the rear elevation or a route through the extension roof, and the choice depends entirely on the individual house. This is the part of a Yarraville quote that cannot be done over the phone. Two cottages that look identical from Anderson Street can have completely different internal routes, and the difference is several hundred dollars.

Untangling layered wiring before adding load
